With weather being as changeable as it is for those of us lucky enough to live in Great Britain, a gilet is the perfect go to for right now. It feels very relevant in fashion terms too.
When worn with a simple t-shirt and jeans it can be both practical and stylish. With days currently ranging from 'baltically' cold in the mornings through to quite frankly uncomfortably sweaty (particularly if you are using the London underground) by late afternoon, a gilet will take you through all the eventualities. It also means that you don't have to make the commitment to a coat first thing in the morning that will be thoroughly redundant later.
My favourite
gilet for a jeans and t-shirt combo is
the Connor vest from our stunning Parisian label Soeur. The neutral colour looks great worn over all colours and looks especially good with denim. It gives me Japanese utilitarian vibes and feels super cool, especially with trainers. I was also sold on the super cozy faux-shearling lining.
If I want to turn the style stakes up a notch I look to the
Maximilia faux-shearling gilet by Marant Étoile. I feel it
makes every outfit I wear it with feel 'fashion'. I love the cut, the slight exaggeration of the shoulder, the contrast trim detail.
I currently love to wear this with a sludgy colored satin slip skirt and slim fitting top. It will also look amazing later on in colder months with a mini skirt, huge polo neck jumper and chunky boots.
Essentially the gilet is the transitional item that is going to take you all the way through to next season and give you multiple fashion points too.
